Getting Ready For The Future - What Parents Need To Know

Assalamualaikum!

Other than sharing stories about my daughters, I also love to share about good education, fresh ideas on how our children can make progress in school. As a mother of two, I can't help but to give more priorities especially in the aspect of education in the early years and providing them the right tools to think more creatively and be independent.

As the saying goes, it's more blessed to give than receive. I believe in providing the good education for our children is the best thing we can do as parents. Every children has the right to be in school but not only to gain knowledge but from the knowledge itself, they are able to unleash their unique potential.

I believe choosing a good education for our children is a great responsibility for every parent. It is important that the school is able to create an ecosystem of success for their students not just academically but also giving what they deserve more, that is equity in public education.

Recently, I read about an organization that transforms education based on the 3 pillars; personalized learning which includes parent engagement, community organizations and unique lesson plans. What is more interesting is the organization or well-known as Rocketship Education is a non-profit network of public elementary charter school that serves children from the low-income families where access quality education is limited.

Founded in 2006, Rocketship Education is a non profit corporation whose mission is to eliminate the achievement gap by building a scalable and sustainable school model that propels student achievement, develops exceptional educators, and partners with parents who enable high-quality public schools to thrive in their community.

Interestingly, this good effort has given their rocketeers a chance to dream, discover and develop their true potential in a different way.  At the Rocketship Public School, it's just not a matter of good education but they also promote core values of persistence, empathy, responsibility and respect among the students.

Not only that, I am also amazed how the school get the parents deeply engaged in their student's academic life and the school community. Like, the parents get to name their schools, help design the enrichment offering, and select the school's unique fifth core value. Not just that, every fall, their teachers and leaders will pay a visit to every student they serve to learn more about their families, life and experiences outside of school.

We believe that all children have their unique potential and that great public schools help to unleash that potential. To me, Rocketship Education has and still doing a tremendous job throughout their 10 years of serving and at the same time building a movement to create more education opportunities especially for the disadvantaged communities across the country.

Giving their best to serve and help the community and making it possible for the children to learn more and gain more success in their life is something that extraordinary to me! I hope this effort continues in many more years and at the same time inspire others to create more opportunities for our children's better future.
